June's Newsletter

Dear Friend,

How wonderful it is to sit down and write to you. I am always filled with gratitude of friends like you. Friends that are standing with me in ministry. Friends that inspire encourage and pray for me. I am so thankful for the wonderful connection we have through God. As we rejoice and walk in love and obedience with our heavenly Dad.

Talking about friendship, it was such a pleasure at the beginning of last month to receive a wonderful lovely friend from England, Mel Whittle. Mel is an English teacher in England, and has been very much involved in missions for years. Having served in mission trips to various parts of Europe, Africa and spending a year in South America. Mel’s presence was very much a blessing to the team in San Pedro and the villages. She’s the first ever English person to Visit Delicias. One of the ladies in the church said, “We have seen Americans, a Chinese brother you brought last year, sister Mel and you brother ‘Donaldo the ‘Afrospanglish,’ who else are you going to bring us next?” I thought “Perhaps a Turkish!”

Ministry News
The village ministry is moving forward fruitfully. We have had a number of children services which have been well packed with over 85% of the all children in Delicias and many adults. Showing Christian films, teaching and art and craft activities which the people loved so much. At the same time using every opportunity to communicate Christ to them and teaching them the way to eternal life.

During Mel’s visit, she was able to share in a number of places that we visited. In Reynosa, a villager were we run a Cell group, God did just another marvelous thing as a young girl named Tracey was healed of “hypothyroidism” (a condition that is caused by the improper functioning of the thyroid gland causing a swell in the neck and other complications.) After the cell group meeting, Mel and I prayed for Tracey as she was to go through tests with doctors. Two weeks later, Tracey reported complete health confirmed by the doctors. Glory to God!

Upcoming Plans
The construction team is already in place in San Pedro. The old church building is down and behold the new one comes. For some time now the preparation for the new church building has been going. The purpose for the new building will be to accommodate the needs of the people in San Pedro and serve the community better.

Please pray for the much needed help needed in all areas. That God will be glorified throughout the entire project and at the end more glory to Him.

Thankfulness
I so much appreciate you dear friend. For your friendship, encouragement, support and prayers for me and for all of us down here in Mexico. No matter what happens, with God on our side and the wonderful friends around us, we can do all things through Christ. Last month I sent out a prayer request for Elizabeth Tolman, I want to report that her health has improved greatly and she has gained strength. I got to see her recently, and it was a miracle at work acknowledged by her doctors! Thank you so much for joining us in prayer, I so much appreciate you.

Prayer Request
Please continue to pray for:

1. Wisdom- always the most needed in all things to make both big and small designs that affect both ministry and personal life.
2. That we will have all sufficiency in all things to be a blessing to those around us
3. Last but not least, security. Praying God’s protection despite the dangerous time Mexico is facing right now.

May the Goodness of the Lord keep you in perfect peace, having trusted Him in all things, He is the only one able to do “exceedingly abundantly beyond that you have ever dare to ask or think” Ephesians 3:20.

Much love and blessings

May Newsletter

Dear Friend,

Happy summer time! Just looking at the sunrise this mooring, Philippians 4:4 brought refreshment in my heart as I read it out loud “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” It’s my prayer that regardless of what kind of situation is trying to steal your joy, that in the middle of it all you will Rejoice!

Talking about rejoicing, May came with its downsides, but the grace of the Lord has lifted us higher and higher. At the beginning of this month we had a funeral of a young man who died in Delicias of an unknown complication in his body. The doctors were unable to trace exactly what was wrong, as several tests come out to be negative and nothing was wrong. It finally come to the conclusion that it was something spiritual that was bothering him, as he acted differently and died trying to name some dead people. On my side this is a deeper realization about how much the spiritual battle ground is rough in the villages that I visit.

Just after a week, Tita (the young missionary student nurse who went to Haiti) her father got very ill, and finally died last Friday. In the same week, Stephen’s mother Elizabeth Tolman was diagnosed with a fatal kind of cancer that has spread all over her body. She had an operation and is still in intensive care, doctors have little hope about her survival.

Ministry News
All the above seems like bad news. But, in all this, God’s faithfulness has not failed us and is still with us in every area. As a result of the young man’s death we have seen 6 people come to the Lord in Delicias, and those who have the Lord being strengthen and really desiring more of the Holy Spirit in their lives!

I spent the last week traveling and preaching in different village churches including an open air street meeting were 2 young men aged 19 and 24 received the Lord, and made the decision to leave the drug business and go into rehabilitation! During these meetings many were touched and encouraged in the Lord especially in stepping out in missions. As both young and old approached me with questions from the desire for the Lord to use them in their lives as missionaries and ministers to serve their own people. At the end of one of the service a lady approached me and said she had come to church with a very bad migraine, and had got healed! Praise the Lord!

Mission Possible
On a project note, the “Mission Possible book” is making it’s through the final stages before its publication in the next few months. Thank you so much for your support and prayers; and for those of you who gave me your vote on the cover design. Mission Possible is meant to be a practical tool. A guide for those who feel called to ministry. Particularly away from their own countries, communities or boundaries. It is inspired by the questions I receive from others about the mission field, and my own experience. Such a book would have been a valuable tool in my own preparation for the mission field. Mission Possible covers some of the issues I've found to be critical in missions, such as culture, finances, the gift of singleness, interracial romantic relationships for single missionaries and much more. It’s my prayer that the book will serve those preparing for the mission field, and ministry at large.

Prayer Request

I thank you so much for standing with us in your prayers and support. I give thanks for you, and making mention of you in my prayers. That as we stand together, regardless of what the tough may be, the Lord is on our side, and we will rejoice as over comers of anything the enemy brings out way.

Please pray for
1. Our dear sister Elizabeth Tolman’s. That God’s grace will be available to strengthen every fiber in her being.
2. The spiritual wisdom we need to walk in the full amour of God
3. Last but not least,Safety! At the time of writing this, gun fires are going on outside the property where we live. And people are advised not to get out of their house as the Mexican military is tackling the gang bases. Please we need your prayers, very much pray for our safety!

May you be strengthened by the Almighty in your spirit through this month, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice!”

Much love and blessings
Donald
