Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2012

Dear Friend,

Best season’s greetings wherever you are.
May you enjoy Jesus birthday as you are reminded;
“His vision was the cross, His purpose was love, His way was compassion, His reason was YOU!”

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
(Isaiah 9:6)

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas
and the Lord’s richest blessings in 2013

Thank you so much for being a part of our lives.

With lots of Love
Donald & Becky

Dear Friend,

I pray this newsletter finds you well, healthy and sound. As we wrap up 2012, thankfulness fills my heart to what God has done this year. I pray that each one of us, no matter where we are, can give God glory for their lives.

I have just come back from a weekend away to Monterrey, (Mexico’s 3rd largest city) where I was invited by a dear friend, a medical researcher at a leading university in Mexico, to lead a youth conference and teach in two churches. (Adolfo and I preaching) My visit was marked by a surprise…. a funeral! As I spent time with the family who had lost their loved one, it touched my heart seeing all the saddened people. Lord, what should I say?  Having asked about the life of the 70 year old Francisco, I was told he had just given his life to Christ four months ago.  I found the answer to my question in Titus 1:2. “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” With this, I was able to comfort the people, and those who had arrived with sad hearts, left with good news-the message of Christ- hope for eternity! I am encouraged to know that even at sad times, the Gospel of truth can still be spread.

Ministry News

The village ministry is moving well with people desiring God more and more. One lady who has captured my attention this last month is Amelia. Amelia is the grandmother of Gustavo a young boy I mentioned in my last newsletter that needs our prayers as he goes through cardiac complications. Amelia never went to school and through the years she has battled with reading. But thank God she can hear the Gospel and act it out! Ever since she started coming to church, God has transformed her life as she yields to serve others with passion, especially in the area of hospitality. She is a light to her family too, her mother has taken on cleaning the church each week before the services, and recently her younger son just said yes to Christ! Please pray she will continue to be an example to all the villagers. ( L to R, 1. Amelia standing.  2.Warm clothes for the villagers)

New Ministry: Hospital Evangelism

I have just finished holding talks with two families that will be helping with our new hospital ministry. Where once a month we will be giving out boxes of food and drinks, to those who’s loved ones are in the hospital, after sharing the Gospel of Christ with them.  Thank God there is already a lined up passionate team for the mission. (New team helpers, Tedeo and Hector.)

Construction Project

Some of you may already be aware we are starting a construction project this month. We will be building a missionary house that will be a home base for Becky and I after getting married in April next year, as we minister through the north central region of Mexico. The plans are already in place and I am set to hold the last key meeting with the master builder this week before the project begins. I am the project manager, please pray that God will guide us with all the wisdom needed as the building goes on, for the resources and funds needed to be available and that we remain faithful in spreading the gospel through this time. (Project photos coming soon)

Praise Report
Praise God this month that:
-          I have been able to preach and teach in many services and evangelistic meetings. As a result, three people said YES to Christ for the first time and many continue to deepen their roots in Him.
-          God continues to stir up the hearts of many people around me in serving Him more and preaching the gospel.
-          Thank you so much for your prayers for Gustavo, his health has been improving greatly, but he’s still awaiting results from the hospital. Please continue to pray for this young boy, may we see God at work through this situation. (The Village Team)

Thank you so much
I am very grateful for all your prayers and support. I am always encouraged to hear from you and to know how I can also pray for you. Looking at every way I am a blessing to the people around me and the lives that are touched and changed by the powerful loving grace of Jesus, I know you play a great part in it all and you are a partaker of the grace that the Lord has bestowed on my life. I am so thankful to have a friend like you and I could not be where I am now without you.

Please continue to pray

1-        For God’s wisdom and understanding as we continue to preach the gospel and disciple others. May we always point people to the one true eternal hope.

2-        Pray for the availability of resources, finances and much needed help with the Missionary House construction.

3-        Pray that God would continue to be our strength and peace as we head into new ministry ventures and through the challenges these may bring. May we always have a meek and humble heart, always ready to hear God, and walk in righteousness. (Gustavo and I on the right)

  Much love and blessings,
In His service,
Donald

October Newsletter 2012

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.  Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,  For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;  Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Philippians 1:3-6)

Dear Friend,

October is and always has been one of the most exciting months in my life. It’s a month in which I overturn another year, I made the conscious decision to serve Christ for life, plus by the end of this month I will have been in full time ministry for FIVE years!

In the last five years I have shared the gospel with over 13,000 people, seen at least 430 salvations plus about 270 baptized. I mastered a new language, taught and discipled three missionaries, who are actively serving God and learned how to juggle and ride a unicycle. Plus, got engaged to a beautiful girl!! I am very thankful for each one of you who has stood with me during this last FIVE years, your love, prayers and generous support has been such a great encouragement, I can’t wait to see what God will do in the next five years!

Ministry news
Recently at church, we celebrated the Mexican Independence Day. It was a fun time for the church to mingle with the community, as we all gathered together for worship and praise, games and a bit of Mexican tradition. I won the all men. “Mexican scream-El grito Mexican,” what a Mexican I have become!?

New team members
The village ministry continues to soar high. As we share the gospel and teach the word of God with more confidence, we witness God’s power of love and transformation within the people. Two guys recently joined the village team. Daniel and Gerardo are passionate young men who want to see the lost saved.

Bible Classes for Girls
Recently Mexico has seen an increase in deaths beside the drug wars, as many young school girls commit suicide. We have responded by creating a bible class for teenage girls, attacking the very root of suicide with Christ’s power of love that sets us free.

As a result of team work, six people were baptized this week in a village where witchcraft is very rampant. Myrna my co-worker reports: “I am a firm believer that God uses His people as conduits of His LOVE!! You see; love covers a multitude of sins, and that includes idolatry. In a place such as Nuevo Delicias, idolatry is an inherited sin which has people captive and oppressed with no hope. The idea of a living and loving God is impossible to fathom. But God.... "Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." As we pray for God to send a team of workers for the vast work in the villages, I realize we must pray differently. May God send His vessels of honor, people committed to God's calling and with a deep love for the souls of the people. Laborers who are willing to invest their lives in the salvation of God's beloved people the “unreached!”! Please lift us in prayer to not get weary and continue to believe that God has a plan and He in His perfect timing will send more laborers, jars of clay filled with God's love and power to set the captives free!!” By Myrna de la Rosa.

Rescue center
A couple of months ago I mentioned about a new ministry we were starting here in San Pedro of rescuing boy whose lives were in danger as a result of having links with the mob. Right now we have two boys whose people were drug farmers; Ernesto and Juan Carlos both from the south Mexican State of Nayarit. Please join us in prayer as we disciple these boys, and also send them to school so they can get an education. Your financial support in helping these boys is also greatly appreciated.  (Left to right; Juan Carlos and Ernesto)

Thank you so much
I am very thankful for all your prayers and support. I am always encouraged to hear from you and to know how I can also pray for you. I am always honored as I take time to pray for each one of you as the Lord brings you to mind. Looking at every way I am a blessing to the people around me and the lives that are touched and changed by the loving grace of Jesus, I know and I am convinced you play a great part in it all and you are a partner of the Grace that the Lord has bestowed on my life. I am so thankful.

Praise Report

-I thank God for what He has accomplished through us in the last five years.
-We are thankful that the people in the villages are more open to hear the good news than ever before.
-I am thankful that God is always faithful to provide for our needs exactly when needed.
-I am thankful God continues to present opportunities for me to preach and teach in both church and school settings. (This past week I started leading a high school and university bible class)

Please Continue to Pray

1.    Pray for Gustavo, a 12 years old boy from the village who had an open heart surgery as a baby. He's constantly vomiting blood and other complications. He doesn't have any health insurance or anything like free med-care. We are trying to raise funds for his check up costs.
   - Pray for the people in the villages, that in the midst of witchcraft (a woman in Mexico has been arrested for sacrificing her nephew to the idols) that the power of Christ to demolish every stronghold manifests! Those delivered to continue to grow in the Lord and we would know how best to support them.
2.   Please pray for Becky as she prepares for missionary life here in Mexico. She will be coming down for three months before our wedding in April 2013. She is currently taking Spanish Classes at a local college.
3.   For my upcoming preaching and talks in churches and schools where I will be teaching about morality and the prevention of suicide. May God give me wisdom in knowing what to teach.

I thank God for you my friend and partner in the Gospel.

In Christ’s Service,
Donald
