October Newsletter 2012

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.  Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,  For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;  Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Philippians 1:3-6)

Dear Friend,

October is and always has been one of the most exciting months in my life. It’s a month in which I overturn another year, I made the conscious decision to serve Christ for life, plus by the end of this month I will have been in full time ministry for FIVE years!

In the last five years I have shared the gospel with over 13,000 people, seen at least 430 salvations plus about 270 baptized. I mastered a new language, taught and discipled three missionaries, who are actively serving God and learned how to juggle and ride a unicycle. Plus, got engaged to a beautiful girl!! I am very thankful for each one of you who has stood with me during this last FIVE years, your love, prayers and generous support has been such a great encouragement, I can’t wait to see what God will do in the next five years!

Ministry news
Recently at church, we celebrated the Mexican Independence Day. It was a fun time for the church to mingle with the community, as we all gathered together for worship and praise, games and a bit of Mexican tradition. I won the all men. “Mexican scream-El grito Mexican,” what a Mexican I have become!?

New team members
The village ministry continues to soar high. As we share the gospel and teach the word of God with more confidence, we witness God’s power of love and transformation within the people. Two guys recently joined the village team. Daniel and Gerardo are passionate young men who want to see the lost saved.

Bible Classes for Girls
Recently Mexico has seen an increase in deaths beside the drug wars, as many young school girls commit suicide. We have responded by creating a bible class for teenage girls, attacking the very root of suicide with Christ’s power of love that sets us free.

As a result of team work, six people were baptized this week in a village where witchcraft is very rampant. Myrna my co-worker reports: “I am a firm believer that God uses His people as conduits of His LOVE!! You see; love covers a multitude of sins, and that includes idolatry. In a place such as Nuevo Delicias, idolatry is an inherited sin which has people captive and oppressed with no hope. The idea of a living and loving God is impossible to fathom. But God.... "Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." As we pray for God to send a team of workers for the vast work in the villages, I realize we must pray differently. May God send His vessels of honor, people committed to God's calling and with a deep love for the souls of the people. Laborers who are willing to invest their lives in the salvation of God's beloved people the “unreached!”! Please lift us in prayer to not get weary and continue to believe that God has a plan and He in His perfect timing will send more laborers, jars of clay filled with God's love and power to set the captives free!!” By Myrna de la Rosa.

Rescue center
A couple of months ago I mentioned about a new ministry we were starting here in San Pedro of rescuing boy whose lives were in danger as a result of having links with the mob. Right now we have two boys whose people were drug farmers; Ernesto and Juan Carlos both from the south Mexican State of Nayarit. Please join us in prayer as we disciple these boys, and also send them to school so they can get an education. Your financial support in helping these boys is also greatly appreciated.  (Left to right; Juan Carlos and Ernesto)

Thank you so much
I am very thankful for all your prayers and support. I am always encouraged to hear from you and to know how I can also pray for you. I am always honored as I take time to pray for each one of you as the Lord brings you to mind. Looking at every way I am a blessing to the people around me and the lives that are touched and changed by the loving grace of Jesus, I know and I am convinced you play a great part in it all and you are a partner of the Grace that the Lord has bestowed on my life. I am so thankful.

Praise Report

-I thank God for what He has accomplished through us in the last five years.
-We are thankful that the people in the villages are more open to hear the good news than ever before.
-I am thankful that God is always faithful to provide for our needs exactly when needed.
-I am thankful God continues to present opportunities for me to preach and teach in both church and school settings. (This past week I started leading a high school and university bible class)

Please Continue to Pray

1.    Pray for Gustavo, a 12 years old boy from the village who had an open heart surgery as a baby. He's constantly vomiting blood and other complications. He doesn't have any health insurance or anything like free med-care. We are trying to raise funds for his check up costs.
   - Pray for the people in the villages, that in the midst of witchcraft (a woman in Mexico has been arrested for sacrificing her nephew to the idols) that the power of Christ to demolish every stronghold manifests! Those delivered to continue to grow in the Lord and we would know how best to support them.
2.   Please pray for Becky as she prepares for missionary life here in Mexico. She will be coming down for three months before our wedding in April 2013. She is currently taking Spanish Classes at a local college.
3.   For my upcoming preaching and talks in churches and schools where I will be teaching about morality and the prevention of suicide. May God give me wisdom in knowing what to teach.

I thank God for you my friend and partner in the Gospel.

In Christ’s Service,
Donald
